WRITING SOCIETY'S WRONGS....

There are many people throughout the world today who do not read their Bibles but who still have moral standards and principles. Apostle Paul even wrote that those who live without the guidance of God’s ‘written law’, he says, have that law ‘written on their hearts’.
(Romans 2:15).

Modern society provides ample evidence that Apostle Paul was right. There are plenty of people without a vestige of Christian faith who fight wholeheartedly against racial discrimination, carry banners in anti-abortion marches, deplore pornography and are absolutely outraged by knife-crime and street muggings. You do not have to be a regular Bible reader to have standards but as Christians we absolutely need to read it and use it to give us moral guidance and change things, we know to be morally wrong in society due to sin.

The Holy Bible is more than a guidebook for modern society today. It is God’s power tool. Reading it regularly and obediently is like living with a piece of radio-active material in your pocket – though rather more healthy!

We live in a world full of suffering and sorrow, a world in which there is so much evil, a world in which death can be very sudden, in which dying can take such very unpleasant forms. Now if we ourselves (as Christians) know someone who can help ‘rewrite society’s wrongs’ to cope with this kind of world, who can give them hope, courage, and unspeakable joy, surely we ought at least to effect an introduction.

Some same persuading is always in danger of being a form of pressure. But simply to tell of our own experience of Jesus Christ as a Saviour who can meet and supply all our everyday needs, is quite different and beneficial. This is the real Christian duty of every born again, child of God, whether we do it in our streets or in another nation or anywhere else. To know Jesus Christ and what He has done for us, and is still doing for us, and not to share the ‘good news’ of God’s gospel with others is just selfishness!

God’s passion for righteousness and for social justice for every living soul on planet earth should enflame our Christian hearts’, and drive us all to a loving action in word or deed to help others. Jesus emphasised quite clearly in the Sermon on the Mount that we are to be the ‘salt of the earth’ and the ‘light of the world’. He went on to spell this out for all of us.

Salt, Jesus said, gives savour. He wasn’t speaking of preventing corruption but of giving things a salty tang. That is the kind of impact Jesus of Nazareth wanted His followers (disciples) to have on society. The source of our saltiness lies in God’s law and in His beloved prophets. A Christian in the right place at the right time can strengthen people of moderate persuasion and get things done peacefully!
