This is a true story about me, and one afternoon, in an adult day care program. I and a few members were having lunch, and we were talking about God, and the Body of Christ. And I asked, "If you had to choose to be a part of the Body of Christ, what part would you be?" I had it all planned out, with what I thought was the perfect answer. If you knew me then, you would no doubt know, in me, at that time, it was my question, I have the perfect answer, I go first, me. (Ah! Don't even...lol). I had chosen to be the tongue. Because the tongue enunciated the Word of God, and when God spoke, everything came to being. "I would be the active part of all creation". There were half a dozen of us in this little group, we did not have to sit in groups during lunch, or you didn't have to sit any particular place, this was totally random. (Actually, God chose this. And it's His doing, and active working in my life again). Everyone went around sharing what part of the Body of God they would be. And, (My game. No one is allowed to choose the same part). No one choose the same part, and each participant gave just as equal, if not, better, thought provoking explanation as I did. (I actually thought, selfishly, "Hey, who's game is this anyway?"). There were really good answers with really great explanations, from members I never thought had such articulation. I had to remind myself, (from their responses) "we ARE talking about God", and everyone seemed to take it very seriously. There was a couple of times, I was just lack-jawed. And finally after everyone had taken their turn, the only person who hadn't spoken, was a (pretty, lovely) young student, who was doing internship for school, psychology. And as a county staff member, (unpaid) she was not allowed to engage in, or participate in spiritual conversations with the members. This was not a Christian or spiritual program. It was a county paid program, therefore, no spiritually was permitted by staff members, paid or unpaid. But, I provoked her. She was normally quite, and respected by everyone, in her authority at the center. (Actually, in my ego, at that time, I was trying to impress her). She said, "If I were to be a part of the Body of God, I would be the little toe." There was a pause, everyone became quite in the group, and of course, (if you knew me)...I had to ask, "Why would you want to be the little toe?" And she said, "Because I love it when a man walks upright". And she went on in her explanation, by saying that when a man is missing his little toe, he walks with a lisp, however slight, you may not notice it at first glance, but if you look very carefully, you can see it. She went on to say, "But I'm not only talking about walking upright in stature...I'm also talking about walking upright in principles. When a man's heart is straight, he also walks more upright". I learned that, in the seeking of spiritual truth, my heart, my beliefs, my morals and ethics do effect others. No matter how slightly. If they see me, if they are around me long enough, if they look carefully enough; they will see my walk. I have to admit that was unexpected. True, spiritual, deep connections like this one, happen to me with much frequency, throughout my spiritual walk with Christ. Thank you for allowing me to share this. I was "provoked" to share this one with you because Sister Jane provoked me into it with her excellent blog, "Trust". Thank you Sister Jane. For those of you who have not read it, please, take a minute, and read it. It's great. I love you, ~HUGS~ Brother Levi
