Stop and listen

Today like most days in my effort to remain in God's presence through my day and to worship Him I sing songs in my head. This morning I found myself repeating these lines

"I am so in love with You. There's nothing else I choose. You've stolen my heart. I'm all for You."

As the words continued to flow from my heart to God's and in the stillness of my room the words began to change. They took on a deeper meaning and gave my spirit peace. I realized I was no longer singing to God, but that His heart was singing to mine. The words had become

"Yvette I am so in love with you. I have chosen you. You've stolen my heart. I gave it all for you."

Over and over again they rang in my head until they began to soak into my very soul. I was no longer aware of the world around me, but became still in God's presence, resting and overwhelmed by His love. And I thought of so many times as a christian I long to be sitting right where i was, but never stopped to listen. Sure I heard God, but I never really listened. It made me think how the world would be different if we as christians just stopped and listened to God. If we allowed His words to soak into the fiber of our beings and alter our hearts to align with His. Christ took time to listen to God, so shouldnt we as christians do the same? Christ was broken for the heart's of sinners, so shouldnt we as christians be broken for the lost hearts that surround us? Christ loves everyone with an unexplainable love, so shouldnt we as christians love the world in a way that the only explination could be that it is God's love in us? How would your life be different if you took the time to stop and listen? How would the world be different if we as christians took the time to stop and listen? When was the last time we just stopped and listened? God is singing over and to us, but is anybody listening?
