I really love the people on this site, and the felloship is invaluable, but some people on here have such narrow views, it truly scares me. I know the site is called living in black and white, but can we be too absolute in our thinking? too rigid? does the Lord really want single minded automitons worshiping him?

Yes Jason,
We can be and are too absolute in our thinking because we are sinners. We are all, daily, attempting to follow Christ to the best of our knowledge, based on our life experiences, influences, understanding of what we see, hear, smell, taste and touch. This is how God made us.

You say you are radical in your beliefs. You're in good company. So was Jesus, the Creator of the Universe. Think about it. Before Jesus came, the pharisee's controlled everything. They were the learned teachers of the "law." The pagans, if you will, the illiterate masses, simply followed what they were told by the priests who claimed to be following the laws of Moses.

In steps the Creator, the Son of God, Jesus, the Messiah, who calls the priests a bunch of white washed sepulchers. They look good in their priestly robes, but on the inside they are dead to Christ. Pretty radical, don't ya think? Mind you, the priests did not accept Jesus as the Messiah, much less the Creator, so they thought they were dealing with yet another whack job. They only had one problem, this "Whack Job" had a huge following and for good reason. He was healing the sick, hanging out with sinners and preaching a gospel they really didn't understand, because they really didn't believe.

What I keep thinking when I read your comments is, you appear to be searching, and in searching you are asking "how do I really find Jesus?"

You find him in the Word of God. There are some great God-fearing people who can be great witnesses for Christ, but they can never replace HIM. I think most of your questions would be answered in God's Word if you only took the time to look there. You can only do so much thinking outside of the box, until you realize you need to know what is inside the box in the first place.
