WHO’S ON THE LORD’S SIDE?
When you step into the ring to fight, do you display the characteristics of a PRETENDER, CONTENDER, or a CHAMPION?
PRETENDER
- Training/Skills – A pretender doesn’t like to train in order to develop the skills that are necessary to win the fight. They think that they can psych out their opponent just by looking the part. It is a must that we study the Bible and pray consistently in order to stand firm when the enemy strikes.
- Talkative – A pretender doesn’t back up their words with actions. They talk as if they’re equipped to win the fight, but when faced with least amount of pressure, they fold. Pretenders claim to be soldiers for Jesus, but the moment they hear gun fire, they want to be discharged.
CONTENDER
- Training/Skills – A contender likes to train and work on developing their skills, but they’re not consistent. Contenders aren’t consistent when it comes to reading the Bible and praying. They only fight back when under attack. It is important that we learn to fight back even when we’re not under attack. How do we fight back? By stocking up with ammunition. The best ammunition is the Word of God and prayer.
- Distracted – A contender tends to be easily distracted by the cares of the world. They lack the ability to continue the fight when under pressure. You will get whooped by the enemy if you allow distractions to consume your mind and time. The distractions could be anything from your finances to relationship issues. It is not a good idea to ignore the distractions, but you can’t allow them to keep you from staying on fire for God. Press On
CHAMPION
-Training/Skills – Champions are very dedicated to their training routine. They are always thinking about how to get to the next level. Champions love training so much that they become trainers. Champions enjoy reading the word of God on a consistent basis. They have their ammunition stored up for when the enemy strikes. They are very passionate about God’s Word and enjoy teaching it to others. Champions try to see to it that the amateurs reach their level and hopefully exceed them.
- Heart – Champions have a lot of heart. They are in it to win it and refuse to let anything or anyone stop them. Champions are willing to fight until they’re blue in the face. Champions can stand alone, they don’t need approval or support from anyone. Champions are always concerned with pleasing God. They know that their true reward is in heaven. The champion’s hand will always be raised to signify victory. One day God will send His Son back into the world to gather up all the champions, which will also signify victory.
THERE’S GOOD NEWS - WE ALL HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BECOME CHAMPIONS
