LOVE IS OUR MISSION
by R Bushman 1-9-10

“We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
By this, love is perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment; because as He is, so also are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.
We love, because He first loved us.
If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.
And this commandment we have from Him, that the one who loves God should love his brother also.
As Christians in this world we are containers that contain the wonderful love of God. As we grow in our relationship with God we begin to bare fruit of the Holy Spirit. This fruit touches a lost hungry world that is love depraved and are starving for what only can be satisfied from God himself.”

(1John 4:16-21 NAS)

IT'S A MISSION TO THE LOST
We have a mission to bare much fruit so that lost souls can find a relationship with the Lord. It is our purpose and the main reason why we are here upon the Earth and not raptured the moment we are saved.
Our purpose isn't about how much money we make, or how much stuff we have, but it is about a life that is filled with love , joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, patience, etc. This kind of living is very selfless, and it should be our aspiration in our daily lives that we bear much fruit.

I fear that many of us are still in it for what we can get out of it, but Jesus taught us that it is by giving away, pouring out, laying down, and giving up that we receive, are filled up, are lifted up, and are received.

IT IS A COMPLETELY RADICAL MISSION
It is a completely radical way to live. It is about the mission to go into all the world, it is about reaching the loveless, it is about helping the helpless, it is about touching the diseased, it is about holding the lonely, it is about meeting needs, and forgiving the sinner.

How will they know about the God of love if we are living no different than they do? How can they know the way if we are to busy with our own thing to show them?

LOVE TRULY IS OUR MISSION
Love is our mission. It is a mission to a broken world that is filled with those who need it disparately. We can't withhold it from them any longer!

It is when we understand that this love of God in our lives is there for a purpose, and when we begin to pour it out through our attitudes, our motivations, our words, and our actions, then we will be fulfilling our God ordained mission.

THE MISSION ITSELF LEADS US TO FREEDOM
It is then that we realize that the mission itself brings us freedom from the entanglements of the world. Our personal mission, and the love of God are connected. Our chains dissolve as we experience and distribute the love of God.

The mission, which is not always easy, is a blessing that makes our love authentic and strong, profound and fruitful. Love is the content of our mission.

"My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love.” (John 15:8-9)

“Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue, but in deed and truth.” (1John 3:18)

Prayer
Father we confess that we desire to embrace the mission you have given to us, we know that because you have given us this mission, you will also give us all we need to fulfill the mission. Make us fruitful as we abide in you so that your love will flow out through our lives into the world around us. In Jesus name amen
