" And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." ~ Matthews 16:17-19

While reading this passage, I found myself thinking of my poor husband. He always complaining how "I can't keep up with my keys and If God gave me a set keys that I would lose them". That was something for me to ponder on.
Because as a child of God, I have a set of keys. As I meditated furter,I reasoned the keys were for binding and loosing. I've read this passage many times but not with my husbands comment in mind. How did this passage apply to my daily life! how could I use it day to day.
I found out the binding and loosing, in the common language of the Jews, signified to forbid and to allow, or to teach what is lawful or unlawful. Oh! now I get it. I've never looked at it this way but there it was in plain english. To forbid,to allow, or to teach what's right and Holy and What's not.
Well I tell you i can't afford to loose these precious keys! Now I know in my heart and soul, my purpose is to stay in God's Word so I can discern what's allowed and what's not and to teach right from wrong to the knowing and unknowing of God's expectation in His children.
So! tell me have you got your Keys? If not Pray the prayer of salvation or rededication as I did and go get your Keys. God Bless!

I LOVE what you're saying here. My pastor back in my hometown used to say that when we are born again and become heirs of the throne, we are given a set of keys. These keys are our authority. He would say the same thing you are saying here. And with that, he would share that these keys mean that we have authority over the things of this earth because we are heirs. That when trials come at us, we just need to shake our keys in the Devil's direction and remind him that we are heirs and we have the authority. Whenever he'd preach this type of sermon we'd all get our keys out and start shaking them and proclaiming together that we are God's heirs and we have the authority and we will not be controlled by the influences of Satan. This reminded me so much of those days! Thank you for sharing!!
