GOSPEL SUBVERSION

Rise up, be controversial, and take a stand for the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is intended to stir things up. It is intended to rise up. It is intended to challenge and cause each of us to examine ourselves and allow God to work in our lives and take us to places that will allow us to answer the call to “love and serve one another.” The Gospel seeks to reach out to the poor and those in need.

“Let your bearing towards one another…

DO YOU SHINE THE LIGHT OF CHRIST?

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8.12) and "while I am in the world, I am the light of the world" (John 9.5), says Jesus. Are we walking in the light and living by the truth? Does our light shine before others giving praise to God?

We are told by Jesus what we are and what we must do; we are lights and we have a job to do in the world (Matthew 5:16; John 15.8). We have good news, the Gospel of Jesus… Continue

Lea: Mateo 16-18

I just discovered that a USB device I have had for months can do something that I taught I would have to buy a totally different product to do. I have to admit that that software shouldn’t have that feature but that fact is that now a-days products can do a lot more than they are supposed to do.

We live in a world were comic books come with free wall posters (It’s not like if I would have refused to buy the… Continue

THREE OUTRAGEOUS ASSERTIONS

At the heart of the Christian faith there are three outrageous assertions. The first is that God became a human being, became flesh and dwelt among us, as John says. This first outrageous assertion has too many ramifications to be elucidated here.

The second outrageous assertion embedded in the Christian faith is put best by Theologian Frederick Buechner: “A crucial eccentricity of the Christian faith is the assertion that people are saved by grace. There’s nothing…

DO YOU HEAR THE TRUTH?

"So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free" (John 8.31-32). A rather bold claim, wouldn't you say?

"The reason I was born, the reason why I came into the world, is to testify to the truth," testifies Jesus before Pontius Pilate (John 18.37). It sounds like Jesus' kingdom, if he has one, is truth. So maybe his kingdom is of this world after all. Or rather,… Continue

SOME PEOPLE ONLY SEE THE FAULTS IN OTHERS

There are people who only see the faults in others. Anytime they are opening their mouths, it is always to complain about something wrong they saw someone do.

I have met quite a number of people who are like that, and I have learnt that the same way they strike a conversation with me (they expect to last for hours) to talk about the flaws of someone else, is… Continue
