My Testimony
I was born and raised in Southern California in a very non-religious family environment. My Father was an atheist.My Mother believed in God but did not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ until just shortly before her death, when she accepted Christ as her personal savior. I become involved with the local Free Methodist Church at the age of 14; and only became aware of that opportunity because my best friend, Dave Howard, and his family belonged. Our church youth group attended a Youth For Christ rally at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles when I was 16. During the preaching, I became so convicted of my sin that I almost ran to the stage where I surrendered my life to Christ.

Not long after, my parents divorced and I was forced to move away to a totally new environment far, far away from my Christian friends, church and, it seemed to me, God.. I became involved with the wrong crowd started using and abusing drugs and alcohol and doing things I still feel ashamed about to this day.

I knew that I needed to change my life but God was still far from my thoughts; instead I enlisted in the Navy and spent two of my four-year enlistment in Viet Nam. I came home and got married. Because of my personal immaturity and irresponsibility, that marriage failed. I married for a second time in 1980 and things started to look up until 1987 when my son Joseph was born and my wife started to develop severe personality and emotional problems. We separated and reconciled several times during the next seven years until we divorced in 1996. I was very unhappy and depressed most of the previous fifteen years moving from job to job and place to place.From 2004 to 2006 I was homeless except for the periods where I found myself as the caregiver for my elderly mother who was dying of Alzheimer's Disease and cancer. I always felt so depressed and sad and so far from any sense of peace or hope that I considered suicide several times and was hospitalized twice for extreme depression.

The Holy Spirit was at work in me, although I did not see it at the time; He would recall to my mind what it was like when I was in fellowship with the Father and remind me of the joy I felt at being delivered from sin by Christ's sacrifice. Finally, Finally, in 2006, I cried out to God to save me, to restore me to my place in Christ Jesus. Praise His name he heard my cry and answered me and drew me back to Himself. Now my only desire is to follow and serve Him .

I became ordained as a minister through United New Testament Church International in March 2008 and have established a personal ministry of outreach, support and the "Good News" of the Gospel to the homeless and addicted; to the hopeless and the sick, I have been working with LIBAW as Director of Operations since January 2009.
