As military living in England, we were trying to sell our home prior to moving back to the states. We ran across a family wanting to purchase our home. They needed help with a few living amenities and we helped them. The man presented the Gospel to us, but we were very leary. He planted a seed.
The seed was watered days later when we were caught in an inner-city riot with fire, rocks flying above our head and police everywhere. The question, "Why should I allowed you into My Heaven?" kept cycling through my mind.
We returned to the states and were stationed with friends from a previous assignment. Carole invited me to church, literally a month after the riot experience. Her church was having a week-long rivial. On the last night I heard testimony after testimony of people thanking God for so many things...some appeared significant, while others insignificant....
Before I could think, something drew me to the front of the church...I, to this day, do not remember pondering whether I should walk up to the front, my body simply did. I stood before the people and said, "While you are affirming your walk with God, I would like to start mine today!"
That was 28 year ago come September 2008. Life has never been the same. God stepped into my life during a wonderful season as a new mother and a very happily married woman.....He stepped into my life at the perfect time prior to a significant life-storm that was headed my direction ready to challenging the very fiber of all that I held dear...marriage, family and future.
God enveloped me with new strong Christian friends, and a wonderful church. The next 5 years were very difficult and as a new believer, I held God accountable for every word He gave me through reading my Bible. I plastered scripture all over the walls. Some days were good, and some, I struggled to hang on when seeing no future in my marriage. Only in God's grace could I keep a balance while caring for my three children.
Through it all, God built, encouraged, refined, and equipped me to be the person I am today. I am still married to the same man and we just celebrated year #31. I love my husband more today than in yester year. We appreciate and respect each other very much and still to this day, act as if we are on our honeymoon....my spouse and children are Christ followers...God worked out his promise in 1 Corinthins 7:12-16:
"To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her. 13And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to live with her, she must not divorce him. 14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified through his wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified through her believing husband. Otherwise your children would be unclean, but as it is, they are holy. 15 But if the unbeliever leaves, let him do so. A believing man or woman is not bound in such circumstances; God has called us to live in peace. 16How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?
I asked God to "fix it" and He used His very special "Heavenly Super Glue!"
Thank you Jesus for always being there through the good times and the not so good times...You have NEVER failed me!

Just thought I'd drop in and say "you are loved with an everlasting love." The love of God ... but I love you, too! I noticed at the top of your page, you mentioned being a military family, We are military retirees. So we have two things in common, first: the same Father and second: military family. :-)
