My Love Affair With Copy & Paste
By Dean Beaty 12/24/11
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Nothing was stirring except my wireless mouse.
A paper was needed before class the next day.
And I had writer’s block with nothing good to say.
I sprang to my computer with no time to waste.
Using my favorite tool, they call it copy & paste.
Plagiarism, who will know? The author is long dead.
They will not suspect that the words were his instead.
Patents on drugs expire and with generics they’re replaced.
Since he is dead and gone what’s wrong with copy & paste?
If a hundred years from now someone copies me,
Do you think I will complain and not give it to him free?
The work that I turned in I’m sure was most obscure.
The author was no doubt some unknown amateur.
One phrase this fellow used to this day still puzzles me.
Just what did he mean? “To be or not to be.”
