Cell Phones in Church

Matthew 21:13 “And said unto them, It is written,

My house shall be called the house of prayer;” (KJV)

Do you really need to have

     A cell phone when in church?

If you ever missed a call

     Would it leave you in the lurch?

Just when the preacher makes a point

     That he’s prepared with care,

That is when a cell phone rings

     With tones that split the air.

Now with exotic rings

     Such as trains and planes or cars,

It’s enough to wake the dead

     And set one’s nerves ajar.

There are heavy metal bands

     Or some new pop culture song.

There’s bugles blowing charge

     Or an oriental gong.

To avoid embarrassment

     And with reverence to God’s house,

Respect the rights of others

     And be as quiet as a mouse.

Other’s needs to hear God’s Word

     Surpasses our phone call.

Make sure your phone is off

     And show courtesy to all.
