Wow,  How much wisdom, and how well-said.

The way God intended it to be.

If marriages were like that, there would be no divorce.

So, what is it that keeps us from living in that way?

SELFISHNESS.

Some advice… about first dates. For the man, be polite, well dressed, and on time. All of these things show respect and consideration. Don’t be so intent on impressing her with worldly things, such as your car and the money you can spend, at least if you are hoping for the kind of woman commended in the Bible. Take her to a place that will make her feel comfortable and safe. Take an interest in her, and don’t talk all the time. Ask her questions and listen to what she says in reply. You should be interested in getting to know her heart and the character of her relationship to Christ. Above all, our Lord commands you: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt. 19:19). Your guiding rule should be to ensure that a woman who spends time with you is spiritually encouraged by the experience. You must take responsibility to ensure that conversation is wholesome and godly. Remember that you are out either with your future wife or with the future wife of some other Christian man. Start honoring marriage now (Heb. 13:4), and thus honor God. If this is not the woman whom God has for you to marry, then assume that her future husband may be on a first date with your future wife. Do unto him as you would have him do unto you.

It has been said to me "to find the right partner, seek God first and His kingdom, and your partner will be found there also..."

Two people, both seeking God, will also find each other....So many people look for their special someone in all the wrong places.

I believe that today, God will not be found in the loud wind, or the loud storm, but in the gentle quietness...a still small voice...

When we are seeking God, our mindset will be on the things of God and His righteousness......then God says "and ALL these things will be added unto you"...

I pray that we (myself included) will seek God first and His Kingdom and that in doing so, we will also find our partner. Give me strength and courage Lord to not be impatient, and look for company in all the wrong places.  For the easy and wide road is not the one our Lord travelled on. We must follow too.

Hello Hello  all you with your lamps trimmed and burning brightly:

Just have finished reading the best Book on dating and marriange -

"God is a Matchmaker"  by Derek Prince.

If you can at all get your hands on this book, please try and do so, ASAP.

For those of you who have already read it, please write me, and give me your take on this book?  Would love to hear some feed-back?

For those of you who cannot get this book, here is a little bite of it:

1.  "God Himself iniated marriage. Man had no part iin planning it.

2.  "The decision that man was to marry, proceeded from God, not from the man.

3.  "God knew what kind of helper that the man needed, the man did not.

4.  "God prepared the woman for the man."

5.  "God presented the woamn to the man.  The man did not go in search

       for her."

6.  "God ordained the nature of their life together - it's purpose was

       unity."

Great response John, but my heart feels the ache of Scott also.

Having our own way will only lead to unhappiness in the end.

So much sweeter isd God's timing.

What us singles need  is a good dose of encouragement - to WAIT. !!

In response to Scott's comment about seeing relatives getting married and he is still waiting to be blessed. I can relate to what Scott is saying, but while I have observed others being married while I'm waiting to be blessed, some of those marriages, I have seen end in divorce including my former pastor who divorced the wife he had when I joined the church and married and divorce two more times within the 8 years I was a member of that church. I will rather wait and be blessed with the right one than rush and married the wrong one and end up divorced. It is best to stay in God's will and wait. I

I see the Lord is showing me i am not alone in this long waiting run.Never getting a chance to date anyone.and seeing my cousins either getting married or remarried.And yet im the oldest.don't make it easy.But i know there is a great reason for it.even though i may not understand why.And i await that day.And what a day when it comes.

The lord know's what we all want put your request out to him, seek him, trust him, have faith and in no time things change, situation change because to meet someone on our own well never normally work so well.. our father knows us best ..
