Dating and Courtship - The difference
I was reading an interesting article about the difference between dating and courtship. It said that dating is not of God, because it often leads to fornication and heartbreak. Also we create soul ties, in dating because we become one with the person we get intimate with.
1 Corinthians 6:16
Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh."
It is also known that a person's soul is scattered when they get involved over and over with different people and sometimes that's the reason why some married couples suffer from infidelity because they long for those other things they felt or did with previous partners.
However the main area I would like to focus on is courtship. Courtship comes with going into relationship with the intent of getting married, I believe. Dating I don't think is the same.
I am not bible versed but I remember in the story of Ruth and Boaz, they didnot lay together and had a child until they married.
Is it ungodly to date then?

When I use the term courtship, people laugh. They claim it's an archaic term for dating. My definition of a date would be going out to eat or engage in a non sexual activity, such as hiking, watching movies and etc. Basically, spending quality time with the opposite sex.
Unfortunately,I do know people who have sex with people they date. I would label that as hook up. My point is that sex isn't a by product of dates.
The article is great, but depending where you are from, date and courtships have different meanings. -
