WHY IS THE POPULAR "SUNDAY SABBATH" FOLLOWED??? please reply.

Can some one please just show me ONE verse saying that Christ altered the 4th commandment to make the first day of the week the Sabbath and no longer the seventh?
I have to know if this is bible based, because I will follow the word
of God wherever I am lead. Even if it means persecution, imprisonment,
torture, or death. Amen?

No there is no Bible verse that changed the sabbath day, the only thing I can say is the Biblical day is different from our "day".

Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Notice the day was described as evening and morning....sabbath was the 7th day of the week or what today would be knownas sat night-sun morning....thats is the most Biblical answer I can give you but I think you are correct to ask that question :) I hope others can give you more insight then I have, but I do hope I have helped.
Thanks for the insight Heather =]
The dictionary, the U.S. Naval space observatory, etc...point to the 7th day being Saturday and not Sunday.
Therefor the beginning of the 7th day would be Friday night and the end would be Saturday night...

knowing this, it seems as though I draw a different conclusion...
ah well if i knew that then i would too! lol this is a place we all learn and grow together :)
i think we focus too much on what day we are supposed to worship God, I understand that we are to keep the Sabbath as Christ instructed, but i feel He is more concerned with us worshipping Him EVERYDAY as opposed to just one day that we go to church, I would say pray about it and do what you are led to do, i preach in protestant churches (sunday) as well as seventh day adventist (saturday) but I celebrate sunday as the Sabbath. there is already enough division in the body of Christ and we just need to be united even if we disagree on the day we choose to worship. worship God every day and we cant go wrong!!
well said brother, I think your right on being unified but I also do think there is an importance in seeking the Truth but it should never cause divisivness! And AMEN!!!! Worship God everyday!!!
AMEN BROTHER =]
I'm glad you have a Christ like attitude when it comes to loving your neighbor =]
we CAN worship God everyday...
But we cannot keep the sabbath everyday, because then we would never work and we would be lazy.
The way I see it is, I don't think i would celebrate my wedding anniversary a day late, so how much more important my time with God?...after all the 4th commandment is the only commandment that begins with the word "Remember", indicating in my eyes that, God knew we would forget.
i agree with on the importance of observing the Sabbath!
Yes tammy, I have preached in a few SDA churches. aside from the issue of the Sabbath and eating meat, they are very similar to protestant churches
No i'm only in highschool =]
AS long as we are following Christ's clear cut Sabbath out of pure devoted Love!... =] (not mans)

"They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by truth; your word is truth"
John 17:16-17

God bless you brother.
Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God.........For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

I have struggled with this for a very long time, and have found no explanation that satisfied my curiousity. The only conclusion I can come to is that man will follow his traditions before he will follow God.

When we accept Christ, we enter into God's rest, so perhaps we will be about our fathers work, even on the Sabbath, because working for God is not work at all, it is for this work that God created us. Jesus healed on the Sabbath, but he never changed the day.

I am sure this is not much help, but this is a question I still struggle with, I am interested in what others say.
I completely agree with you, Working spiritually for others is not work, but a great and fulfilling joy! =]
There is going to be a great controversy in the very near future about how we worship God.
Our only solid foundation is the WORD OF GOD my friend. Keep your love with GOD strong =]
