The Sovereignty of God (Does God have a purpose through sin?)

I really believe more and more that God is in control of everything, and everything that happens does so because God wants it to happen. I know that is a strange idea because we tend to blame sin on Him then, but consider this:

When Jesus crucified the Bible says that it was "by lawless hands" (Acts 2:23). The Bible says that "sin is lawlessness" (1 john 3:4). Therefore the crucifixion of Jesus was a sin. I mean, the people who were killing Jesus were sinning when they killed Him. However, we know that it was God's plan for Jesus to die. Listen to the following verse:

"Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death" (Acts 2:23).

It says that the crucifixion, which was a sin, happened because it was God's "determined purpose" for it to happen. Listen to this verse:

"For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done" (Acts 4:27-28).

In a prayer by Peter and John they said that it was God's predetermined plan for Jesus to be crucified. Therefore, God planned that sin would happen for His own good purpose and somehow remains righteous in doing so. He never tempted anyone like James says, but ordained that sin happen so that He could display His grace and love through it.

I know that this is difficult to grasp, but just think about these verses and what they mean. God controls all things, and even uses sin and evil to do good things. I don't know how, but the Bible clearly says that He does it, and I love it that sin is not out of His hands. Just think about Romans 8:28:

"And we know that all things work together for good..."

Joseph said to his sinful brothers: "But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive" (Genesis 50:20).

Here that? God meant evil for good. He ordained that evil should happen so that He could bring good out of it. Why did He do it that way? I don't know. I just say with the apostle Paul:

"Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! “ For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor?” “ Or who has first given to Him And it shall be repaid to him?” For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen" (Romans 11:33-36).

I MET A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN LAST NIGHT WHOSE HUSBAND PASSED FROM A HEART ATTACK...HE WENT UP STAIRS TO LAY DOWN AND FROM THE WAY SHE EXPLAINS IT...HE JUST FELL ASLEEP...SHE WAS SO HURT BY THE SUDDENESS AND THE FINALITY OF IT ALL ...SHE DID NOT HAVE TIME TO PREPARE AND NEITHER DID THEIR SIXTEEN YEAR OLD SON...I SHARED MY EXPERIENCES WITH HER OF HOW I HAD LOST THREE OF MY OWN...I WAS NOT TRYING TO MAKE HER FEEL BAD BUT I WANTED HER TO KNOW THAT I UNDERSTOOD HER PAIN AND WHAT SHE WAS GOING THROUGH...I TOLD HER THAT I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND IT THEN BUT I CAN UNDERSTAND IT NOW...THERE ARE BAD THINGS THAT HAPPEN TO US IN THIS LIFE THAT ARE IN THE PERFECT WILL OF GOD AS IT WAS WITH JESUS...WHEN MY SON EMANUEL PASSED FROM LEUKEMIA AT SIX YEARS OF AGE...I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY BUT SHORTLY AFTER HE PASSED...I DID...HIS CROSS WOULD HAVE SIMPLY BEEN TO HEAVY FOR HIM TO BEAR...EXPERIENCE ISN'T ALWAYS THE BEST TEACHER YOU KNOW...SOMETIMES TIME IS TOO...

THERE ARE THINGS THAT ARE BEYOND MY SCOPE OF JUDGMENT AND I DON'T KNOW IF IT WAS GODS WILL OR NOT...THE BIBLE SAYS THAT GOD HATES DIVORCE BUT HE ALLOWS FOR IT BECAUSE OF THE HARDNESS OF MEN'S HEARTS...THERE ARE THINGS THAT GOD ALLOWS FOR EVENTHOUGH ITS NOT HIS WILL...IN THE END...I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT HE IS A GOD WHO MAJORS IN THE IMPOSSIBLE...THE HARDER THE TEST...THE MORE GLORY IT BRINGS TO HIM AND HE LOVES IT! I KNOW THAT IT DOES NOT SEEM LIKE THAT WHEN WE ARE GOING THROUGH BUT IT IS SO TRUE....GOD WAS SO PROUD OF JOB INSOMUCH THAT HE BRAGGED ON HIM BEFORE SATAN...I WANT HIM TO BRAG ON ME TOO!...WE CLAIM TO HAVE SO MUCH FAITH IN GOD BUT IF WE ARE HONEST WITH OURSELVES...WE DON'T...I AM SAYING THIS BECAUSE I AM OLDER NOW...I HAVE DOUBTED GOD SO MUCH THROUGHOUT MY LIFE BUT HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN FAITHFUL...HE WANTED TO PROVE TO ME THAT HE IS NEVER WEARY UNLIKE ME AND THAT HE IS A GOD WHO IS MIGHTY TO SAVE AND MIGHTY TO DELIVER.
Amen Tammy, well said...between our sinful nature, free will, and temptations i think we have the sin area covered lol...

God can and does use evil for good, all things do work together for those who love Him...but that does not give us a pass to sin or not feel the weight of guilt for unrepented sin. We must always always stand where God tells us to stand and when we do that the outcome is up to Him, theres no condemnation in Christ but if your not abiding in Christ and His Word, which will always line with His Will, then your sin is just that, sin...and there is always consequences for our sin even after its forgiven, you reap what you sow.
I dissagree akan...in those situations there was still free will but God in His soveriegnty and foreknowledge knew what their choices were...He used that for His purpose...He did not cause their sin the man still chose to sin.
If I misunderstood you I apologize I thought you were using those situations to depict that God caused the sin :) As far as pharoes heart that is true! I believe it also says that the desciples did not understand when Jesus told them about Judas I can't think of the verse right now but maybe you know or someone else will pop in with it before I return tonight. Have a blessed day brother, again sorry if I misunderstood where you were going with that~
It is just something that I find very precious to me, and don't really understand all that well, but believe it and do understand to some extent that it is important. I just think that people don't really know who God is. They have been sold a image of God that is not sovereign, not omnipotent, and does all things to make much of them. They even see the gospel as Jesus Christ coming to show them how much they are worth to God, instead of showing us how much God is worth to God.

I know that this language probably sounds strange. "How much God is worth to God." I mean, who talks that way? These days its all about us, our rights, feelings, goals, and desires. I am just coming to see that the Bible seems to think otherwise, and I want to follow it there.
