Thanksgiving and Football
By Dean Beaty 11/24/11
Proverbs 6:9-10 “How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard?
when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a
little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:” (KJV)
I planned to watch some football but it was all in vain.
For my plans got all messed up, no thanks to tryptophan.
Dinner was supremely good the desserts were pumpkin pies.
The turkey was a golden brown but it came with a surprise.
I saw the starting kick-off, and I cried, “no pain, no gain”.
That’s when my eyes succumbed to the turkey’s tryptophan.
I woke up once at half time and saw the marching bands
But then I nodded off again and awoke to empty stands.
When I watched the news that night, I heard both teams were bad.
But one thing I’m thankful for is the good nap that I had.
I still don’t know who won the game. I guess it doesn’t matter.
I blame it all on tryptophan and the turkey on the platter.
