I think the true sinners when it comes to ciggarettes are the tobacco companies. They knowingly make them more addictive to keep people smoking. People are of course at fault as well for starting, but big tobacco fills thiere product with so many chemicals it makes it extremely difficult to stop. My GF smokes, and she and a few of her friends tried switching to organic tobacco, and within a few days, they were experienceing withdrawl due to the lack of potenct and chemicals in the organic product. Thankfully, with the exception of an occasional cigar, i was never bitten by the tobacco bug.
so it's only Christians that make mistakes? and only Sinners don't feel guilty...bah, i've met plenty sinners that feel guilty...i mean how else would you ask God for forgiveness if you didn't feel guilty?

...actually the unforgivable sin is a blaspheme against the Holy Spirit Himself...it says that any sin or blashpheme against the Christ will be forgiven of men... (wow!) but if it's against the Holy Spirit it will not be forgiven:

In Matthew 12:31-32, Jesus says to the Pharisees,

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come"
That's very tough, to think of commiting suicide and still go to heaven. But can anyone summarize the MERCY of God, His Mercy Endureth Forever, His GRACE is sufficient, His LOVE is everlasting, these are just some attributes about Him that we CANNOT comprehend. I would not commit suicide but if one does I believe that God will still judge this person by His true heart and reins, I really believe that.
I'm hoping that smoking isn't a sin, because I've been trying to kick the habit for years, and I know that I'm a christian, saved by grace. I also find myself feeling guilty because I do know that my body is the temple of God and I shouldn't be smoking, he will take this desire away I do have faith that it'll be done, in the mean time he know's me, there is no secrets about me to Him.
Hey Everett, great questions. It seems there is a general theme that you DO NOT go to hell for commiting suicide, and that's news to me. I thought you did, but I could be terribly wrong and the arguments that have been presented are compelling. I will have to study more for myself to truly understand God's truth on this subject.

As for smoking I do believe it is a sin in the sense that in John 10:10 the Lord says that "I came that you might have life and have it more abundantly'. There is no abundant life in smoking, especially when it leads to addiction and causing harm to those around you. In the same scripture it says, "The thief comes to kills, steal and destroy." Smoking will kill you if you keep doing it, it steals the very intention of life that Jesus died for in you and it destroys the Kingdoms potential to advance and represent in the earth. Now, quitting is a whole nother story, right? If you or anyone you know or love is trying to quit, wants to quit, tried to quit and can't have them check out our faith-based quit smoking CD called "Heaven Sent". I tried everything to quit. I did the patch, the gum, hypnosis (which Christians should not do), Zyban and it gave me really dark dreams which is a side affect and positive thinking and NOTHING worked. Calling on the name of Jesus worked and that was it. Feel free to check out my page: "The Servant"

smoking is a sin.

to sin is "to miss the mark" or "miss the point'
or in most cases, to BE AIMING FOR THE WRONG TARGET ALTOGTHER.

smoking is idolarty because it's "depending upon" the habit instead of God for "stress relief" - which is a lie, a horrible deception. NOHTING about smoking reduces stress. You can believe that, but there is NOTHING about it that improves your life. In fact, the opposite is true.

Trust God, turn to God for truth. (Romans 12:1-2, Matthew 6:33 etc...)

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Ephesians 6:16 NIV

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places... Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:10-12,17 NLT

We're not fighting against people, we are FOR God's children, seeking truth, and freedom from deceptions. The only weapon Satan has is deception. We have free will, we choose who and what to believe and that determins what we think, how we feel, what we say and do.

I always trust what God tells me is true in Scripture above what anyone chooses to believe. Including myself. If it conflicts with what God says is true, then I must be wrong. That's why I always check the scripture references for myself, and always rely upon what God's Spirit is teaching me through His Word (the bible). Fatih is choosing to believe God, no matter what I'm feeling or believing. ps God IS always right.

God IS faithful He IS our bridegroom. In Jewish law the wife cannot file for a divorce. ONLY the husband can give his wife a get, a divorce. God doesn't go back on His covenant with us. And He is zealous for us, He will come after us. We belong to Him. He paid the ultimate bride price for us.

Once we accept Yeshua as our Lord and Savior, we HAVE ALREADLY BECOME a new creation (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). NOTHING can separate us from God's love for us. (see Romans 8:37-39).

This leads to us seeking God's wisdom, and accepting God's power IN our lives today. We enter the Kingdom of God as soon as we accept Yeshua's marriage proposal.

But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives,
He produces ... in us:
love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness,
faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Here there is no conflict with the law.
~ Galatians 5:22-23 NLT

As we know Jesus better,
His divine power,
gives us everything we need
for living a godly life.
He has called us to receive
His own glory and goodness!
And by that same mighty power,
He has given us all of His rich and wonderful promises.
He has promised that you will escape
the decadence all around you
caused by evil desires
and that you will share in His divine nature.
~ 2 Peter 1:3-4 NLT

So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.

Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires. Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law [of sin and death]. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
~ Romans 6:11-14 NLT

so, what does God say?
NOTHING can separte us from the Love of God (Romans 8:38-39)
Committing suicide is a sin. So people who commit suicide will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Smoking is a different thing which is wrong. Smoking, drinking beer, smoking pot, Cocaine, and other illegal substance are not only wrong but it also not healthy for our bodies. Our body is The Temple of God. We must take care of it, inside and out. That is also including Tattoos. From not eating right to other temptations like smoking . I would call it a sin for those who sell all these bad products. They know it wrong for the human body and they still sell it for the money. Millions of people died because of all these products. And people still fall to the Temptations. I also don't believe are life is number what day and how we died. FOOTPRINTS..
"Do not be a fool--why die before your time?" (Ecclesiastes 7:17b) suicide is murder and its breakin a commandment we r not to murder anyone or ourselves and tell me this how can u say god please 4give me and ur already dead from killin urself its to late for tha wages of sin is death and that doesn't mean physical but also spiritual death which is eternal seperation from god and u take away da temple that god dwells in. We do not belong to ourselves the earth is tha lords and fullness thereof we r supposed to take care of our bodies and also satan has a hand into it to cause he comes to kill, steal, and destroy.
That is wrong, there are absolutes that God has marked out in His Word. Satan is the spirit of confusion, and the best trick he can play on Christians is to get them to see that there are no absolutes in the Word of God. He already has the people who do not know Jesus as the Son, but if he can get the Christian to be confused and think that the Word of God and God's ambassadors do not really "know" the "Truth", and God is the "Truth", then that is a jubilee for the Deceiver. You have just fallen into that trap. Remember, Satan was Lucifer who lived in Heaven...so he knows God, he knows Jesus, and he knows the Bible even more than some Christians know it.
Christians need to be on guard, and listen to the Word of Truth and Absolutes, which God's Spirit gives to all who listens.
Haha....that is funny about the chimney. For the suicide part, I heard that it can lead one to hell. What I have a question about is, what about the 9-11 victims who jumped out of the skyscraper buildings, when they had a choice between dying of fire/explosion or jumping to their death. That is a hard thing to think about, and maybe they received forgiveness.

We never know what is in a person's heart, so that is why we are often told not to judge. I would say "not to judge too quickly". I have judged people for what they did, but when I found out the whole story, then something happened....I began to see how their thinking became screwed up, and allowed confusion and pain to overtake them. That is when I begin to pray for God's mercy on them whose mind is messed up so much that they feel that suicide is the best thing. Sometimes, it actually takes us to go through to hard knocks to really understand, that if it was not by the Grace of God, any one of us could be in the very same situation, and being judged for it by others.

See God's mercy heals things that we think can put a person out for good.

Blaspheme, as one pastor put it, is speaking "damnable" heresy. The unforgivable sin, from what I have heard for a long time now, is blaspheming the Holy Spirit. There is a article on this at:

http://www.tbm.org/what_is_blaspheming_the_holy_spi.htm

We are forgiven for our sins ,according to the Bible, but the best thing that I can say is to read the bible carefully and pray for the Spirit to lead you into all truth. That is more important than listening to what others say. What other pastors and Christians say is important, but they can misinterpret and misunderstand the Bible too, especially if they do not allow the Spirit to lead them into truth.

For smoking, that is a great harm to one's body. Both overindulgence in alcohol, smoking, and taking harmful drugs (outside of a few tylenol to help with a headache), are sins because you are damaging the body, which is what God created for you to live in. He asks for our bodies to be a living sacrifice. Plus, for us to do his work, we need to be as healthy as we can be.
Everett....whatever happens always listen to the God, His Word, and the Holy Spirit. There are many blasphemers who will try to confuse Christians whose heart desire to learn the "The Truth", which is God. Stay in the Bible and ask for the Holy Spirit to help you understand, that is true freedom. There will be many spirit, who say that they are Christian, but will try to confuse you and actually try to doubt God. But, if your heart is in God, you will know when something is not right. I pray for your and your friends to keep putting God first.
i believe that smoking is a very addictive bad habit and the bible does say our body is our temple and we should take care of it, but i don't belive it is a sin. i believe people should try and stop and that turning to God for help is the best way. as far as suicide, i was taught no matter what you're going through, commiting suicide is never the answer and that only God has a right to take and life, therefore it is a sin.
