As a young child, I have been fascinated with Bible trivia questions, and one question that always intrigued and played on my curious mind, that has recently come up again in the Body of Christ here in England is this remarkable question:

DID GOD GIVE ADAM, OR EVE A BELLY BUTTON?

When God formed and fashioned the very first man ADAM from the dust of the earth and breathed His 'ruach' spirit into Him; Adam now became a living soul in the likeness and image of God.......but when Adam was birthed so-to-speak, did he have a belly button???

Also when, God sent Adam into a deep sleep, and took one of his ribs from his side to form and fashion Eve, (his flesh-of-his-flesh and bone-of-his-bone), did she like Adam have a belly button???

What are your thoughts on this.............I welcome your comments!!!

great!!! Now I am going to be thinking about this lol my analytical mind never wondered this before but now I will lol....thanks lol
grazie, HEATHER!

MIND BOGGLING ISN'T IT; THE WORD OF GOD IS FULL OF MYSTERIES, AMEN!!!
well we know that the umbilical cord sustains life to the unborn child so yes I would say God gave Adam and Eve a belly button as to sustain life for the next generation to exist, but really do not know why man has one, hmmm very interesting
I agree Carol. There are many questions we will never know the answers for and when we get to heaven I don't think it will even matter the questions we had here on earth. Someone needs to come up with what to do with belly button lint, lol!!!!
I think I'll just say no. But, I don't have alot to back that up...other than the fact that they didn't go through any gestation period, and God doesn't really need to do things to make them aesthetically pleasing or less wierd. :) They were created fully functioning adult humans.

But yeah, just kind of stretches your mind a bit. Not real important, but fun to think about. :)
We were made in the image of God him self we all have belly buttons so i would think God made Adam and Eve with belly buttons he does everything right the first time so he had to have made them.

FUN QUESTION...I HAVE ANSWERED THIS QUESTION BEFORE BUT BECAUSE I LEFT ALL MY COMMENTS WENT WITH ME...THIS IS HOW I SEE IT...WHENEVER YOU SEE PEOPLE MAKING THINGS LIKE SAND CASTLES...THEY LOOK JUST LIKE REAL SANDCASTLES EXCEPT FOR THEY ARE MADE OUT OF DUST....SO IF MAN IS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD....I AM QUITE SURE THAT GOD PAYED ATTENTION TO DETAIL WHEN HE FORMED ADAM FROM THE DUST OF THE GROUND...SO IF GOD HAS A BELLY BUTTON....ADAM HAS ONE TOO...AND BEING THAT EVE WAS TAKEN FROM ADAM...IF HE HAD A BELLY BUTTON SHE ALSO HAD ONE TOO...WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE....AMEN.
i would think that there was no navel for the first people--- and certainly no "monthlies" til the fall---
at the risk of seeming indelicate-- they would also have had no bums til the fall!
no waste!
there are creatures in our eyebrows who have no bum! they are a closed system---
weird but true---

i think adam and eve looked more like Jesus--- bright as the sun--- until the fall----
just a theory...

LOVE!!!

You know to be completely honest I would like to think Adam and Eve did have belly buttons. They were created by god as the first created man and woman. All humans have belly buttons. Each and every one of us are also a creation of god, a child of god. So why would God create each and every one of us with belly buttons but not Adam and Eve. That seems kind of strange that he would create Adam and Eve without belly buttons but then create everyone else with belly buttons. So I am going with my gut instinct here and will guess yes to Adam and Eve having belly buttons.
EVE HAD TO HAVE A BELLY BUTTON TO HAVE A CHILD. THE CHILD IS TIED TO THE MOTHER WITH THE UMBILICAL CORD... THAT HAS TO BE CUT AND TIED AT BIRTH.
AFTER EACH BIRTH THE CORD IS KNOTTED THAT'S HOW THEY NO HOW MEANY CHILDREN A WOMEN HAS GIVEN BIRTH TO.
I agree with Tammy on this. I can't wait to go tell my kids this one and let them puzzle over it a while. I wonder if we will find out the answer when we get to heaven?

I'm guessing no, they didn't have one because that's a baby's lifeline & since they weren't born in the womb, no would be the answer I would choose but of course, that's opinion.
Maybe they did have a belly button to point to the fact they they were given life from God?
