This is a bit of a long read, but i would appreciate some feedback. I feel I have come to a crossroads in my faith journey, and I thought I would ask for feedback, though im not sure what kind of feedback there will be. I have never questioned my faith more so than I have lately. I joined this site basically because I received a spam email on myspace at a time when I was questioning my beliefs, and took it as a sign. I came here seeking guidance and fellowship. On the fellowship side, it has been wonderful. I really enjoy the discussions, and I love all of you. This is a great place.
As for my faith, I am really confused. The more I study the Bible, or read the information and opinions on this site, the less sure I am of my faith.
I’ve seen way too much in my life to be an atheist. I know in my heart that God is there. But other than that, I am unsure of anything. I see the beliefs of Christians and so many of these beliefs go against everything I feel is right in my heart. The anti-homosexualism, the fear of the world, the anti-science (when science disagrees with the bible, but it is embraced when it supports the bible). I see Christians that want to have the freedom to worship and believe what they want, but want to stifle things that go against what they believe. I see Christians pick and choose what they want from the Bible, and then chastise others for doing it. I see hypocorism and hate in the name of God.
I don’t know what I am anymore. I have been told several times that Im not a Christian because im not a fundamentalist. And im starting to think they are right. I look at some of the values and ideals of Christianity and they just seem so wrong to me. Some of these ideals that shun other people on the basis of their beliefs’ or traditions is so sad to me. The fear of the world, a world that God gave us, seems so wrong to me. Im not really sure what to believe any more, and it is quite disheartening.

Jason we all question things in our life at times and to question our self is analyzing who we are. In your case it sounds like you are questing who you are in the Lord according to what others say and do and this can be detrimental to ones faith. I know you believe in God, but do you have a personal relationship with Jesus? Do you allow others to dictate to you the word of God or do you allow the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you. I use to believe anything that was taught me through different people until those teachings became contradictory one to another until I could not understand anything and it all became to confusing. It wasn't until I separated myself from all these different interpretations that I discovered that all I needed for teaching me was the Holy Spirit. I know God uses others to teach us, but we also have to learn how to discern what spirits are speaking as there are only two, one of truth and one of error. 1John 4 teaches us how to discern what spirits are speaking so that what we hear we will know if it is truth or error. As far as science, as I see you are really into which can be a good thing at times even comes against itself at times with mans interpretations of what they perceive to be truth. What it all boils down to is who are you listening to and how to discern truth from error. You are a child of God and I love how you challenge me to dig deeper into the word of God through your discussions. As far as faith goes it's not even our faith, but the faith of Christ that we believe in him and accept him into our hearts by confession and belief. Satan can also at times try and still our faith by placing confusion in our minds, which is one of his favorite things to do so he can still faith from us.

John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

John 14:26 but the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things back to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. The Holy Spirit will teach you things the carnal mind cannot perceive. John 14, 15 Jesus explains the purpose of the Holy Spirit and the relationship of the believers to Christ and what relationship the believers have to the world. Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20 we receive power and authority through the Holy Spirit to carry on the works of the Lord until His glorious return again. Philippians 2:1-16 you must posses the mind of Christ. The word fear and trembling in vs.12 means respect and humbleness. Jesus has started a good work within you. We can only carry out these works through the Holy Spirits guidance.

Always in my prayers,
Debbie
Good job Tammy! I was going to post something, but you have done such a good job. I pray that Jason and others read this and God opens their eyes.

Hey brother. This is probably gonna be one of my longest replies ever & you know my stand on those. lol. But, you are well worth the effort. I'm first gonna start out by giving Scripture on how you know you're saved. John 1:12says: But to all who have received Him – those who believe in His Name – He has given the right to become God’s children. And of course, everyone knows John 3:16 which states "whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life". Those are the stipulations to salvation. Then we find in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

If you've believed in the Name, you are a NEW creature. You asked Christ to come into your life & save you because the Holy Spirit showed you your need of a Savior. When you became a Christian your life was not mended like a broken piece of pottery. Your present life or life as you knew it isn't just an improvement but is NEW.

To go a step further "the old things passed away." All the old, bad habits & the old bad practices which characterized your life previous to your becoming a new creature are now old. They should be passed away. There is a "break" from the old into the new. The point here is the new things have not only come but they will remain new.

Thru this growing process, we need to read the Word diligently seeking the Lord & growing in Him. To do this, you must believe that every word written in the Bible is the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth. It is our map so to speak to know how to live. It's not just a book of suggestions on how to live but a guidebook in how we SHOULD live. Though some things may seem really far fetched in the Word, who can know the mind of God? It's not our place to question it. As far as science goes, their biggest goal is to prove God doesn't exist. They make the job of Satan a little easier. They throw things our way in the form of "proof" to add doubt in our mind to whether or not God's Word is God's Word or is it man induced? He used this same logic even with Eve. He asked her "Did He really tell you that you would die?" He placed that doubt in Eve's mind. He is still playing that same game. He said that He makes the wise man a fool. There are Christian scientists that can counter each & every discovery that the secular scientists have "proven". The Christian walk is a walk of faith. Without faith we cannot please the Lord. So, as God's child, we must have faith enough to know that our God is big enough to make His Word infallible.

As far as the gay issue, you know my stand there. I believe practicing it is a sin because God says it's a sin. However, I do think the other sins are just as bad as Christians should take a stand on all sin & not just focus on one. I feel they should also do so in love which we fail to do. I'm not going to expound on this subject any longer because you know my beliefs on this.

As far as the Christians fearing the world, I don't think that's exactly what the issue is. We are to shun anything of this world. This isn't our world any longer since the fall of man in the garden. As Christians, our home is in the heavenly realms. We are strangers in this world but it's our job is to lead others to Christ. As Christians, we are to do everything possible to grow in Him, stay in His word to know how to live & to develop a deeper relationship with Him. Stay on our knees to fight the powers of the outer darkness. There are many ways in which to know that you know you are a child of the King. One is by the fruits of the Spirit. The fruit has to do with your character & who you are in Him. It is a quality of life & a manifestation of who He is in your life. Many Christians don't live as the Word says which is sad. We've drove many people away but that shouldn't make us give up on this fight. Some use the Word as a soap box to dog others when they need to be "looking at the man in the mirror" as Michael Jackson put it. God tells us to work out our own salvation with fear & trembling. It's our responsibility on how we carry His work because He holds us accountable for each & every word we speak. I pray this helps somewhat. I love you dearly Jason. You have become very special to me. I pray the Lord leads you into all truth as He would have you see it.

PS. This was 2 long for me to even reread & proof so I hope there isn't many typos. lol
I have alot to read over and think about. one thing that bothers me is that im told that i need my eyes open, when honestly many times i feel like my eyes are open and its others who are seeing thing incorrectly. (no offense of course, its just how i feel)

Forgive me Jason if I offended you. When I made the statement of God opening your eyes, I was saying that the Lord would give you the answers you are seeking. I wasn't insinuating that your eyes wasn't open brother. So please forgive me.

Brethren, with all humility..."no one can give what he or she doesn't have"!
They that know their God shall be strong and do exploit.i think we sould be bold to "talk the gospel" for it is the power of God unto salvation.....by the way, thats just a word for us.

I dont know the kind of people around you.May be what you here or see around you influence you more than the word of God.God speaks through the holy spirit...(and the holy Spirit through genuine oracles). He guides us through the Holy spirit.but the the problem is have you been baptised by the Holy Spirit? If you have, are you still living in that condition?.
When we Go forward for the sinners prayer, what do we have on our minds as our decisions concerning the faith we are embracing? Do we come to say the prayer and keep living the way we came? or do we come to make changes and turn a new leave?....and live like Christ? I think we should make up our minds right from there. Its come as you are but dont remain as you came.
When we give our lives to Christ and are confirmed saved,we don't stop there.move some steps forward for the baptism of the Holy spirit, otherwise you will never enjoy or understand what Christianity is all about. When we begin to doubt our salvation, then we have either not been baptised with the holy Spirit or we have grieved Him enough. Here, sin is reigning instead of obedience to the spirit of God. I have an article here about the Holy Spirit where Captain and Debbie Hasty shared their experiences of what the Holy Spirit can do.go read them and ask God for your genuine Holy Ghost baptism experience.
When you step out for the sinners prayer,If u don't feel sory for your sins,or u are not convicted there, then u have not come into it.Now if you were convicted and you fell sory, then u are expected to refrain from those things.I mean those sins that you were into.
St paul said in collosians 3 vs 5-10: Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;10And have put on the new [man], which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

this is the word of God and we are to obey or disobey.but it is not easy to do it on our own.thats why we have to crave for the baptism of the Holy Spirit.A concience dead in sin can be reactivited when you say the sinner's prayer (if u mean it).Dont walk by that concience,go for the actual baptism and you will see the difference. When you are there, there are questions you will be too informed and enlightened to ask.For the Holy Spirit would have led you into "all truth"He speaks if we listen.he strenghtens us,"He blesses us.He is the Lubricator of our relationship with God" says my Pastor. He is the comforter,Helper and infact every thing. So it will be easy to obey the word of God,mortifying those things, shun the devil, hate the devil and hate sin and leave a victorious Christian life. The Holy Spirit is real.
The BIBLE does not end with "confess with your mouth" there are other things,so many things that follow.A christian grows and gets matured in those truth...unto perfection."Heaven is not for babes...but for children"
Thats the problem. i don't KNOW that i truly believe that the Bible is the true word of God. Too many things in the Bible cause me to doubt that it is the word of a divine being.

AngelsWing said:
. This usually causes us to doubt everything we KNOW to be true in the bible and in the church.
Hi Jason,

I'm new here, but I wanted to ask, what in the Bible makes you doubt? Specifically? And believe me, no judgment, I'm just curious.
Hello, Jason. First off, I would like to say that SIN is SIN.No matter how anyone looks at it. I hate the sin not the person doing the sin. Just like homosexuals, don't like what they do or stand for because God didn't make mankind to be with the same sex has you. In other words man with women not man with man or woman with woman. I know alot of people that are homosexual. I'm not at all afraid can't show the love of God acting like that. But make sure you stand for what you believe and be prayed up. I'm going to stand for what God says is right and wrong so if people call me a fundamentalist that's okay. There's a woman that goes to my church and she got called that for standing up for her beliefs. Here's other example: We are to show the world Gods Love, homosexuals can come in to church but have no place teaching a sunday school class, unless that person has being Saved. I also believe that either should anyone teach a Sunday School Class unless they are saved. What better place to have people that don't know God than in church. And let God do the rest, about your faith, it just might be that God is preparing you for something and right now you have no idea what it is right now. Just hold on because losing your soul salvation and letting Satan win Not worth it Brother being there. We are on the winning team just keep praying and talking to God and in time you will understand. Some things I don't fully understand but Jesus said it and I belief. Faith in a short term means things we know to be true. Hold ON
