Permalink Reply by Debbie Hasty on October 30, 2009 at 10:36am Hey brother. This is probably gonna be one of my longest replies ever & you know my stand on those. lol. But, you are well worth the effort. I'm first gonna start out by giving Scripture on how you know you're saved. John 1:12says: But to all who have received Him – those who believe in His Name – He has given the right to become God’s children. And of course, everyone knows John 3:16 which states "whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life". Those are the stipulations to salvation. Then we find in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
If you've believed in the Name, you are a NEW creature. You asked Christ to come into your life & save you because the Holy Spirit showed you your need of a Savior. When you became a Christian your life was not mended like a broken piece of pottery. Your present life or life as you knew it isn't just an improvement but is NEW.
To go a step further "the old things passed away." All the old, bad habits & the old bad practices which characterized your life previous to your becoming a new creature are now old. They should be passed away. There is a "break" from the old into the new. The point here is the new things have not only come but they will remain new.
Thru this growing process, we need to read the Word diligently seeking the Lord & growing in Him. To do this, you must believe that every word written in the Bible is the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth. It is our map so to speak to know how to live. It's not just a book of suggestions on how to live but a guidebook in how we SHOULD live. Though some things may seem really far fetched in the Word, who can know the mind of God? It's not our place to question it. As far as science goes, their biggest goal is to prove God doesn't exist. They make the job of Satan a little easier. They throw things our way in the form of "proof" to add doubt in our mind to whether or not God's Word is God's Word or is it man induced? He used this same logic even with Eve. He asked her "Did He really tell you that you would die?" He placed that doubt in Eve's mind. He is still playing that same game. He said that He makes the wise man a fool. There are Christian scientists that can counter each & every discovery that the secular scientists have "proven". The Christian walk is a walk of faith. Without faith we cannot please the Lord. So, as God's child, we must have faith enough to know that our God is big enough to make His Word infallible.
As far as the gay issue, you know my stand there. I believe practicing it is a sin because God says it's a sin. However, I do think the other sins are just as bad as Christians should take a stand on all sin & not just focus on one. I feel they should also do so in love which we fail to do. I'm not going to expound on this subject any longer because you know my beliefs on this.
As far as the Christians fearing the world, I don't think that's exactly what the issue is. We are to shun anything of this world. This isn't our world any longer since the fall of man in the garden. As Christians, our home is in the heavenly realms. We are strangers in this world but it's our job is to lead others to Christ. As Christians, we are to do everything possible to grow in Him, stay in His word to know how to live & to develop a deeper relationship with Him. Stay on our knees to fight the powers of the outer darkness. There are many ways in which to know that you know you are a child of the King. One is by the fruits of the Spirit. The fruit has to do with your character & who you are in Him. It is a quality of life & a manifestation of who He is in your life. Many Christians don't live as the Word says which is sad. We've drove many people away but that shouldn't make us give up on this fight. Some use the Word as a soap box to dog others when they need to be "looking at the man in the mirror" as Michael Jackson put it. God tells us to work out our own salvation with fear & trembling. It's our responsibility on how we carry His work because He holds us accountable for each & every word we speak. I pray this helps somewhat. I love you dearly Jason. You have become very special to me. I pray the Lord leads you into all truth as He would have you see it.

(no offense of course, its just how i feel)
Permalink Reply by Jason A on October 31, 2009 at 7:42am Forgive me Jason if I offended you. When I made the statement of God opening your eyes, I was saying that the Lord would give you the answers you are seeking. I wasn't insinuating that your eyes wasn't open brother. So please forgive me.
